Do you want to try a new coffee chain, that is both innovative in their selection but offers comfort— like those big coffee chains like Climax Coffee or Starbucks? Make way for Komeda Coffee, a worthy opponent to the big cafés — with much to offer.

Komeda Coffee is opening up many cafes on Okinawa, one of them is the Ginowan City branch. It is located just a bit off of the 58 near Tropical Beach and is very easy to get to. Even though parking is scarce, it has much space for customers inside. The feel of the cafe is that of a wood cabin, seating is comfortable and reminds of a diner, with many chairs and cushioned benches. There are outlets in every seating group and you have access to free Wifi. So get your laptops out and make it a study day!

The coffee and food selection is so vast, it is almost too hard to choose one yummy looking dessert over the other. The cafe offers hot or iced coffee, tee and hot chocolate and if you are a latte-fan you will especially enjoy their Cafe Au Lait and Milk Coffee drinks. The Milk Coffee is lighter on the coffee side, very smooth and just perfect for milk lovers. The Cafe Au Lait is made with coffee and creamer and stronger in taste, perfect if you like espresso based drinks. You can order all drinks either sweetened or unsweetened.

The great desserts like the tea cake, the sweet danish paired with thick whipped cream, the savoury sandwiches and cool ice cream shakes invite to stay longer, to chat away the afternoon with friends and to spend quality study time accompanied by those delicious sweets. My favourite was the creamy tea dessert, which is not too dense and is a perfect paired with a hot black coffee. The coffee set costs 790 yen which comes with a dessert and coffee of your choice. For another 100 yen you can order an L size of your coffee, which is nice when you plan on staying longer. If there was a free refill, that would top it for me, but I’ll take what I can get. It’s a comfortable cafe that’s relaxing and inviting and my new favourite spot to study and have coffee in Ginowan!
