Calling all craft beer fans – this is the place for you! Okinawa Brewing Company’s taproom sits in the heart of American Village, just moments from Sunset Beach, and is a mecca for those who love good beer, good food and good company.
Open at this location since 2015, the bar serves an impressive 24 beers on tap as well as a variety of bottles and cans. The menu is headlined by the brewery’s own craft beer range, which includes a hoppy American IPA, a rich cacao porter, and the full-bodied Haisai pale ale. These are joined by a regularly-changing selection from other Japanese and international breweries.
Prices range from about ¥600-900 for a half pint, and ¥1000-1500 for a full US pint. When it comes to food, you can choose from a great array of snacks and pub classics such as wood-fired pizza and chicken wings.
The taproom walls are lined with underwater- and beach-themed artwork by local artists – some of which is available to purchase – to match the surfboard mounted above the bar. There’s also a pleasant terrace out the front where you can people-watch and enjoy the sunshine.
The staff here are friendly and knowledgable, and the bar even hosts regular trivia nights open to all. And finally, if you fall in love with this place, check out the range of merchandise by the bar. They sell t-shirts, bottle openers and other souvenirs, all emblazoned with the brewery’s distinctive turtle logo.
